Available as a two-door Wrangler or four-door Wrangler Unlimited, the new special-edition model will be introduced in Europe in the second quarter of 2014, with the 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine producing 200 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque and the 3.6-litre V-6 Pentastar petrol engine delivering 284 horsepower and 347 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a five-speed automatic transmission.
Engineered to take on the most demanding trails, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon uses front and rear Dana 44 axles. Legendary Rubicon off-road capability is achieved through the Jeep part-time four-wheel-drive system that receives power through a Rock-Trac® NV241 two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio and Tru-Lock® electronic front- and rear-axle lockers. Tru-Lock front-and rear-locking differentials provide low-speed manoeuvring when climbing boulders and ascending steep inclines by evenly splitting torque between both wheels, forcing them to turn in unison for extra traction.
An additional exclusive feature of the Rubicon model is an electronic-disconnecting front stabilizer bar – called the Active Sway Bar System – which delivers additional wheel travel for traversing the toughest trails.”
